Grand Finale of Volleyball Tournament organized by Ferozepur Police as part of Mission SAMPARK
Ferozepur, January 4, 2025: The grand conclusion ceremony of the Volleyball Tournament, jointly organized by Ferozepur Police and Vivekananda World School, under Mission SAMPARK, was held with great enthusiasm.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Major General Sharon Yogi, General Officer Commanding, Golden Arrow Division, Ferozepur, Virender Aggarwal, District & Sessions Judge, Ferozepur, Arun Sekhri, Divisional Commissioner, Ferozepur, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, DIG Ferozepur, Ashok Kumar, Officiating DIG BSF, Ferozepur, Naval Kumar, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Ferozepur, Lakhbir Singh, Assistant Inspector General, Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur, and Randhir Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Investigation, Ferozepur.
The tournament was organized under the leadership of Soumya Mishra, the senior superintendent of police in Ferozepur through the combined efforts of the police department and Vivekananda World School, it became a platform to raise awareness among the youth.
Dr. Gaurav Sagar Bhaskar, Chairman of Vivekananda World School, remarked that this event promoted sports and inspired participants and attendees to reflect on the serious issue of drug abuse in society.
Dr. Bhaskar mentioned that this initiative saw participation from Village Defense Committees across 500 villages in Ferozepur and various trade, social, and farmer organizations from urban areas. Their active involvement in the anti-drug campaign under Mission SAMPARK contributed significantly to the event's success.
The tournament witnessed participation from 24 teams, including 14 from various villages of Ferozepur and 10 from different corners of Punjab. A remarkable aspect of the tournament was the participation of representatives from the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab SOG Team Blue, and Ferozepur Police Range, presenting a united front in the fight against drug abuse.
The event began with mesmerising performances by students of Vivekananda World School, showcasing traditional and modern acts like Gatka, Bhangra, and Martial Arts.
In the tournament, Bhagthala secured first place, Ferozepur Shah Three came second, Kaliawala took third place, and Ganganagar stood fourth. The Ferozepur Police Range team triumphed in a special match against the Indian Army, BSF, and Punjab SOG Team Blue.
Major General Sharon Yogi encouraged the youth to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle through sports. He stated, “Sports not only foster physical and mental growth but also act as a medium for bringing positive societal change.”
Virender Aggarwal also appreciated the initiative, saying, “Sports are a powerful tool to keep youth away from evils like drugs while teaching them discipline and teamwork. Such events are crucial for guiding the youth in the right direction.”
During the closing ceremony, the winning team was awarded ₹15,000, while the runners-up were presented with ₹11,000 as a token of appreciation.
This tournament proved to be a successful effort to promote physical and mental development, sportsmanship, and discipline among the youth.

Rudra (School Director), Sameer Mittal, Sanjana Mittal, Dolly Bhaskar, Tajinder Pal Kaur, Mehar Singh Mal, Kamal Dravid, Santokh Singh, Rishi Sharma, Baldev Singh, Sukhdev Singh Atari, Ramesh Sharma, Lakhbir Singh, and Harjinder Singh Dhaliwal.
The program was successfully executed with the support of Mahima Kapoor (Vice Principal, Admin), Shipra Arora (Vice Principal, Academics), Darshan Singh Sidhu (Sports Coordinator), Gurpreet Singh (Social Media Coordinator), Sapan Vats (PRO), Sarabjit Singh(Transport Officer), Deepak Singla, Gurdeep, Palwinder Singh, Rustam Singh, and Mangal Singh.
