Farmer’s protest claims another life: Elderly farmer passes away at Rajindra Hospital

Ferozepur(Khanauri), January 12, 2025: In a tragic turn of events, 80-year-old S. Jagga Singh, a resident of Godara village, Jaito Tehsil, Faridkot District, succumbed to illness on January 12, 2025, while participating in the Khanauri Morcha. Belonging to the Scheduled Caste community, Jagga Singh was a father to five sons and a daughter.
Reportedly, Singh fell ill during the protest and was admitted to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, where he passed away during treatment. His demise has added to the growing toll of lives lost during the ongoing farmers’ protests, which have seen multiple casualties both last year and in 2025, highlighting the continuing challenges faced by protesters.
A heartfelt tribute was paid to Jagga Singh at the Khanauri Morcha site before his body was taken to Godara village for cremation. His final rites will be performed near Bajakhana today, honouring his contribution to the movement.
The farming community, while mourning his loss, has reiterated its commitment to the cause, urging authorities to address their demands to prevent further tragedies.
