Amritsar/Majitha, January 17, 2025: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia today said Pakistan’s agency - ISI was conspiring to disturb Hindu-Sikh harmony in Punjab and prominent minority leaders including members of the Hindu community were being targeted by gangsters and terrorists even as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was oblivious to this most sensitive development.
Addressing a press conference at the residence of former Chairman Pappu Jaintipur and prominent Advocate Amandeep Kumar Jaintipur in Majitha Assembly segment, the SAD leader said it was shocking that gangsters, terrorists and anti-social elements were working at the behest of the ISI to disturb the hard earned peace of the State by targeting prominent faces of the minority communities including businessmen, traders and politicians.
He said the grenade attack on the residence of Amandeep Kumar Jaintipur was the 11th such incident in the border belt but the AAP government as well as the Punjab were bent on trivializing these attacks by terming them as cases of tyre busts and radiator explosions.
He said this contention had proven to be untrue as the State DGP had visited the sites subsequently. “What was the necessity of the DGP to visit a spot where a tyre had busted?
He said the truth of the matter was that the family of Amandeep Kumar had filed more than 10 FIRs against dreaded gangsters including Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Happy Chattha and others and even filed an CWP in High court to seek security for the family but despite orders of the court they were not provided the same.
Majithia said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would be squarely responsible if anything happened to the Jaintipur family which had played a huge role in achieving Hindu-Sikh harmony in the Majha region.
Majithia said even as nothing was being done to rein in gangsters and terrorists in Punjab, the State police had sent a communication to the Delhi Police that the life of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal was under threat and that his security cover should be enhanced.
“Delhi Police can handle the security of Kejriwal but who will look after the security of Punjabis who had handed over command of the State to Bhagwant Mann ?”
He said that instead of worrying for Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann should start worrying for Punjabis who were taxpayers of the State. He said these people were contributing for the welfare of the State with their share of taxes but the Bhagwant Mann government was least bothered about their welfare.
He declared the SAD would not let the communal harmony of the State to be disturbed at any cost.
He also urged CM Mann that instead of remaining busy touring Australia, New Zealand and Delhi, he should start working for the welfare of Punjab and Punjabis at the earliest as they had handed over the reigns of the State to him not anyone else.EOM
