Farmers’ Core Committee meets at Shambhu Border to plan Jan 26 Tractor March
Ferozepur (Shambhu), January 1, 2025: The Core Committee of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, held a crucial meeting at the Shambhu Border under the leadership of District President Inderjit Singh Bath. State President Sukhwinder Singh Sabhra, along with prominent leaders, participated in this significant gathering.
Key discussions centered on the upcoming January 26 tractor march and strategies to fortify the ongoing farmers' protest at Shambhu, Khanauri, and Ratanpura borders. Leaders called for united efforts to sustain the momentum and increase participation in the agitation.
The committee also highlighted the hunger strike by activist Dallewal, who has now completed 54 days of fasting. The government has responded by agreeing to provide medical aid and initiating talks, which are scheduled for February 14. . Dallewal’s hunger strike has also inspired 121 other farmers, including 111 from Punjab and 10 from Haryana, to join in solidarity. These farmers have vowed to continue their fast until Dallewal ends his.
Farmers’ leaders strongly reiterated their demands for the rollback of policies perceived as harmful to the agricultural sector. They voiced their opposition to the central government's decisions, which they claim endanger the livelihoods of farmers and the agrarian economy.
Prominent participants included Gurmel Singh Fatehwala, Dharam Singh Sidhu, Narinderpal Singh Jatala, Baljinder Singh Talwandi Nipalan, Surjit Singh Fauji, and Harfool Singh Dulewala.
The meeting emphasized the farmers' resolve to persist in their struggle, with the January 26 tractor march set to be a major demonstration of their unity and determination.
