Delhi Elections 2025: Big setback for AAP, historic victory for BJP

New Delhi, February 8, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major setback in the results of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia have lost their respective seats.
At the same time, the BJP has performed historically and won 48 out of 70 seats , while AAP had to be content with 22 seats.
Major defeats:
1. New Delhi seat:
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was defeated by BJP's Parvesh Verma by a margin of 3,182 votes . This seat was already considered a high-profile one.
2. Jangpura seat:
AAP's Manish Sisodia was defeated by BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah . This time Sisodia contested from Jangpura instead of Patparganj.
Major Wins:
1. Kalkaji seat:
AAP's Atishi Marlena won by defeating BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress's Alka Lamba .
BJP's historic victory
After 27 years, BJP is going to form the government in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have termed this victory as historic.
Setback for AAP, celebration for BJP
AAP suffered huge losses in this election, while BJP workers are celebrating on the streets of Delhi. Now it will be interesting to see what changes the new government of Delhi brings.
