Punjab Prison Olympics 2025 begins at Faridkot Central Jail

Faridkot, January 8, 2025 – The Punjab Prison Olympics 2025 commenced on February 3 at Central Jail Faridkot, with Ms. Navjot Kaur, Hon'ble District and Sessions Judge, Faridkot, inaugurating the event. The tournament, which will run until February 9, brings together inmate teams from various jails across Punjab to compete in multiple sports.
Launched in 2024, the Punjab Prison Olympics aims to foster discipline, teamwork, and a positive outlook among inmates through sports. This year’s edition features participants from Central Jail Bathinda, District Jail Mansa, District Jail Muktsar Sahib, District Jail Barnala, Sub Jail Moga, and Sub Jail Fazilka. The competition includes events such as Tug of War, Volleyball, Badminton, Athletics (100m, 400m, Long Jump), and Kabaddi.
Today, the Kabaddi Tournament was inaugurated by Ojasvi, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Faridkot, in the presence of Shamsher Singh Shergill, DSP (HQ), Faridkot. The opening match saw District Jail Mansa take on Central Jail Bathinda.
District & Sessions Judge Faridkot and ADC Faridkot praised the initiative, highlighting its role in inmate rehabilitation and stress management through sports.
SP Jail Iqbal Singh Dhaliwal announced that outstanding performers from these zonal matches will qualify for the Inter-Zonal Punjab Prison Olympic Games 2025, set to take place on March 15-16 at Central Jail Patiala.
