Model Code of Conduct in effect in Haryana for Municipal Elections
No new schemes or projects to be announced: Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh

Chandigarh, February 11, 2025 - Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh, said that with the declaration of Municipal Elections, the Model Code of Conduct is now in effect in the state.
The State Election Commission has decided to hold general elections for the seats of Mayors and members of all wards of 8 Municipal Corporations, as well as Presidents and members of all wards of 4 Municipal Councils and 21 Municipal Committees across the state.
Additionally, by-elections will be conducted for the Mayor seats in the Municipal Corporations of Ambala and Sonipat, the President's seat in the Municipal Council of Sohna (Gurugram) and Municipal Committees of Assandh (Karnal) and Ismailabad (Kurukshetra).
Furthermore, by-elections will also be held for the posts of member in ward number 11 of the Municipal Committee of Ladwa (Kurukshetra), ward number 14 of the Municipal Committee of Safidon (Jind), and ward number 5 of the Municipal Committee of Taraori (Karnal).
He said that, according to the election schedule, voting for the general and by-elections of these municipal bodies, except for the Municipal Corporation of Panipat, will take place on March 2.
Voting for the Mayor and Ward Councillors of the Municipal Corporation of Panipat will be held on March 9.
During this period, no new schemes or projects can be announced, and no foundation stones will be laid. Additionally, no projects or buildings will be inaugurated in the concerned areas.
He emphasized that any violation of the Model Code of Conduct will be taken seriously by the State Election Commission.
No transfer of officers and employees involved in Municipal Elections: Sh. Dhanpat Singh
He clarified that no officer or official involved in election duties in these districts, nor any employee of these municipal bodies, will be transferred from their present place of posting until the completion of the election process. If the transfer of any officer or employee associated with the elections is necessary, it can only be done only after obtaining prior written approval from the State Election Commission.
