Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to be Chief Guest at 2-day orientation programme for Haryana MLAs
Programme to be organized at Haryana Vidhan Sabha on February 14-15

Chandigarh, February 12, 2025 - A two-day orientation program will be organized for members of the Haryana Legislative Assembly on February 14 and 15, 2025 in collaboration with the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) at Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Chandigarh.
Giving information, a spokesperson of the Haryana Legislative Assembly said Lok Sabha Speaker Sh. Om Birla will be the chief guest at the inaugural programme.
He said on February 14, Advisor to the Speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly, Shri Ram Narayan Yadav will give inaugural remarks.
After this, Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan will give the welcome address while Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and Member of Legislative Assembly Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda will also address the dignitaries on the occasion. During this programme, a video film about the functioning of PRIDE will also be screened.
The Preamble of the Constitution of India will be read out under the leadership of Lok Sabha Speaker Sh. Om Birla. Deputy Speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly Dr. Krishan Lal Middha will give the vote of thanks.
He said in the afternoon, Speaker of Punjab Legislative Assembly Sardar Kultar Singh Randhawa and Speaker of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Sh. Satish Mahana will deliver an address on legislative experience.
On this occasion, Lok Sabha Member and Chairman of the Joint Committee on Wakf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Sh. Jagdambika Pal will address on how to be an effective MLA, what members should do and what they should not do.
Apart from this, Lok Sabha Member and Chairman of the Estimates Committee Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal and Advisor to AICTE, Ministry of Education, Government of India, (Joint Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat) Dr. Raghab Prasad Das will speak on the accountability of the executive through questions and other means in the legislatures.
Former Member of Parliament Dr. Satya Pal Singh and Joint Secretary of Lok Sabha Secretariat Sh. Y.M. Kandpal will give a speech on the Committee System - Reflection of Parliamentary Democracy.
The spokesperson said on February 15, in the morning session, the Speaker of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Sh. Shankar Bhai Chaudhary will give a speech on legislative experience.
Apart from this, former Lok Sabha member Dr. Satya Pal Singh and Joint Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Dr. Raghab Prasad Das, will give a speech on legislative and financial work in the Indian Parliament and Haryana Legislative Assembly. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister and Power Minister, Government of India, Sh. Manohar Lal will give a speech on the role of a minister in legislative processes.
He said on February 15, in the afternoon, the Speaker of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Pathania will give a brief information regarding legislative experience and former Joint Secretary of Lok Sabha Secretariat, Sh. Ravindra Garimella on Parliamentary Privileges and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, Dr. Satya Prakash will give a brief information regarding National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA).
Apart from this, Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sh. Mahipal Dhanda will address the valedictory session and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Sh. Harivansh Singh will deliver the valedictory address. Sh. Harvinder Kalyan will give the vote of thanks on the occasion.
