Moga hosts buyer-seller meet to empower terracotta artisans under Project Care

Moga (Punjab), February 14, 2025:In a significant step towards enhancing market access for traditional artisans, a Buyer-Seller Meet was organized today in Moga under Project CARE, an initiative led by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and implemented by Grant Thornton.
The event aimed to connect 50 skilled terracotta artisans with direct buyers, wholesalers, and retail businesses, opening new avenues for sales and business growth.The Buyer-Seller Meet brought together leading retailers, bulk buyers, and industry stakeholders, facilitating meaningful interactions and business negotiations.
The event showcased a diverse range of handcrafted terracotta products, reflecting the artisans' skills, innovation, and cultural heritagThe meet also focused on building long-term partnerships between artisans and buyers, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and increased commercial opportunities.
The event was graced by the presence of Smt. Charumita, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Moga, Sh. Hitesh Vir Gupta, PCS, Assistant Commissioner, Moga, Sh. Charanjiv Singh, LDM, Moga, renowned guests, and the talented artisans of Moga, further reinforce the collective commitment towards artisan development.
Speaking at the event, Smt. Charumita, ADC (G) highlighted the importance of skill development, product development and facilitation of market linkages in strengthening the artisan community.
"Through initiatives like Project CARE, we are not only preserving traditional craftsmanship but also enabling artisans to compete in modern markets. This Buyer-Seller Meet is a step towards their economic empowerment," he stated.
The event also provided artisans with insights into branding, pricing strategies, and customer preferences, helping them align their products with market demand. As a result of this meet, several artisans successfully secured bulk orders and direct buyer collaborations, strengthening their entrepreneurial journey.
The hard work and craftsmanship of these artisans have been acknowledged and appreciated by the District Administration, reinforcing their role in the local economy and cultural heritage.
