Jalandhar DC Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal visits de-addiction, rehabilitation centre in village Shekhe

Jalandhar (Punjab), March 5, 2025: As part of the Punjab Government's campaign "War Against Drugs," (Yudh Nashian Virudh ) Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today visited the de-addiction and rehabilitation center in Village Shekhe.
He directed health department officials to ensure proper care, counseling, and engagement of patients in productive activities to help them completely overcome drug addiction. At the 30-bed facility, 11 patients are currently undergoing treatment.
Accompanied by SDM Randeep Singh Heer and Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurmeet Lal, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the patients to learn about the facilities provided at the center.
Dr. Aggarwal assured them that the district administration would offer skill training and employment assistance for their rehabilitation.
Reaffirming the Punjab Government's commitment as per the resolve of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drugs from the state, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the Jalandhar administration is dedicated to making the district drug-free and reintegrating recovering addicts into mainstream society.
During the visit, Dr. Aggarwal also inspected various skill training courses available for recovering addicts, including an electrician course and football stitching. He urged health officials to encourage patients to participate in sports.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Opioid Treatment Center (OT Center), where staff informed him that 700–800 individuals receive medication daily.
He also reviewed the hygiene conditions at the rehabilitation center and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.Dr. Raman Gupta, Dr. Abhairaj, and the entire staff of the de-addiction and rehabilitation center were present during the visit.
In addition, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal also inspected the Ladhhewali Flyover. He instructed officials to improve traffic management and reviewed the high-tension electrical wires passing over the flyover.
