Minister Anil Vij urges Metro Rail connectivity between Ambala and Chandigarh on Holi

Ambala (Haryana), March 14, 2025: Haryana’s Minister for Energy, Transport, and Labor, Anil Vij, has urged Union Urban Development and Energy Minister Manohar Lal to introduce a metro rail service between Ambala and Chandigarh.
Highlighting the persistent traffic congestion on roads leading to Chandigarh, Vij emphasized that the metro project would significantly reduce travel time and benefit thousands of daily commuters.
Speaking at a Holi celebration event in Ambala Cantonment, Vij acknowledged Manohar Lal’s contributions as Haryana’s former Chief Minister, stating that he had brought transformative development to the region.
Vij stressed that reaching Chandigarh, the capital of Haryana, remains a challenge due to traffic bottlenecks, making a metro connection an urgent necessity.
During the event, Union Minister Manohar Lal, accompanied by Anil Vij and newly elected BJP municipal leaders, celebrated Holi with flowers and extended festive greetings to all attendees.

Ambala Cantonment’s Growth Under BJP Leadership
Anil Vij praised Manohar Lal’s tenure as Chief Minister, highlighting his instrumental role in key infrastructure projects, including the Ambala Cantonment Domestic Airport. He credited Manohar Lal for swiftly approving ₹130 crore for land acquisition, overcoming hurdles posed by military land regulations.
Shared Vision for Public Welfare
Vij remarked that both he and Manohar Lal share a common ideological background, having been shaped by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He emphasized that their primary goal remains public service and state development, despite occasional policy differences.
BJP’s Continued Electoral Success in Ambala
Expressing gratitude to the people of Ambala Cantonment, Vij highlighted BJP’s landslide victory in recent municipal elections, securing 25 out of 32 seats. He criticized opposition forces for attempting to destabilize the region but credited voters for reaffirming BJP’s leadership.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Lauds BJP’s Stronghold in Haryana
Union Minister Manohar Lal asserted that BJP remains the dominant political force in Haryana, citing consecutive victories in Lok Sabha, Assembly, and municipal elections since 2014.
He called upon elected representatives to fulfill their commitments to the public, ensuring continued trust in the party.
A Call for Unity and Festive Spirit
Addressing concerns over Holi celebrations, Vij reiterated that every citizen has the right to celebrate festivals freely. He urged people to embrace the spirit of the festival and turn any misunderstandings into goodwill.
The event witnessed the presence of several BJP leaders, including municipal president Swarn Kaur, Som Chopra, Jasbir Jassi, Rajiv Gupta, and other senior party members.
