Babushahi Bureau
Amritsar (Punjab), March 14, 2025 – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned the shocking attack on devotees and sewadars at Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas, located within Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib. The SGPC has urged the police administration to take strict action against the attackers and publicly disclose their identities.
Attack on Devotees and Sewadars
According to SGPC Secretary Partap Singh, the attack occurred around noon, when a masked assailant entered Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas and suddenly began attacking devotees and sewadars with an iron rod. At the time, Sikh devotees from across the world had gathered to offer prayers on the occasion of the new Nanakshahi year.
As a result of this brutal assault, five people were injured, including:
- Three devotees from Mohali, Bathinda, and Patiala
- Two sewadars of Sri Darbar Sahib
Among the injured, one sewadar and a devotee from Bathinda sustained serious head injuries and remain in critical condition. The victims were immediately rushed to Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital (Vallah), where they are receiving treatment under SGPC’s supervision.
Attackers Apprehended; SGPC Calls for Thorough Probe
Thanks to swift action and CCTV surveillance, the attacker and an accomplice were caught and handed over to the police. However, the SGPC has demanded a full-fledged investigation to determine if this was part of a larger conspiracy to disrupt peace at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib.
Expressing grave concern, Partap Singh stated that such incidents are deliberate attempts to create fear among Sikh devotees and disturb the sanctity of the revered shrine.
SGPC’s Demand for Justice
The SGPC has called upon the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that:
- A swift and transparent investigation is conducted
- The identities and motives of the attackers are revealed
- The culprits face the strictest punishment
The SGPC has vowed to stand firm in safeguarding the sanctity of Sri Harmandar Sahib and ensuring the safety of devotees worldwide.
