Farmers to observe Shaheed Diwas on March 23
Farmers' Leaders to hold ‘7th Round of Talks’ with Centre in Chandigarh today
Ferozepur, March 19, 2025: Sarwan Singh Pandher, farmer leader from Punjab, in his video message, announced that the ongoing negotiations with the central government today will focus on 12 key demands, including the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP), debt waiver for farmers and labourers, crop insurance scheme, justice for the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, and withdrawal of all cases filed against farmers nationwide.
This crucial discussion, marking the seventh round of talks, will be attended by leaders from 28 farmer organisations under the banners of the non-political Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and other forums. The meeting is scheduled for 11 AM in Chandigarh, with farmer leaders reaching early to strategize beforehand.
Pandher also emphasized that the farmers’ movement, which has continued for nearly 400 days, is not about prestige but about ensuring justice. He challenged those who believe farmers have ample free time to spend 10 days on the roads with them to witness their struggles.
He also raised concerns about corporate policies affecting Indian agriculture, citing the upcoming India-US agreement that could disrupt local markets. He also highlighted the deteriorating condition of local roads in Punjab and Haryana, announcing plans to stage demonstrations outside the residences of local MLAs to demand urgent repairs.
Farmers are also set to observe Shaheed Diwas on March 23, commemorating national martyrs. Pandher urged the youth to actively participate in these movements to strengthen their cause.
