DIET CONDUCTED ULLAS LITERACY EXAM
ULLAS Literacy exam empowers over 6K non-literate individuals in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, March 24, 2025: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Ferozepur, successfully conducted the ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) literacy exam across multiple centers in the district.
National Education Policy 2020, the Government of India launched a centrally sponsored scheme called New India Literacy Program, popularly known as ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) for a period of five years, from 2022- 2027. ULLAS is a transformative initiative launched by the government to promote lifelong learning and bridge the gap in basic literacy and essential life skills for citizens aged 15 and above.
Under the guidance of Amaninder Kaur Brar, Director, SCERT Punjab, Surinder Kumar, State Coordinator ULlAS, and Ramneek Kaur from SCERT, the examination was conducted across Punjab today. In Ferozepur, Principal Seema, leading DIET Ferozepur, ensured the smooth execution of the exam at various designated centers.
Nodal Incharges, Aarti Sachdeva and Gaurav Munjal, reported that over 6,000 non-literate individuals from different parts of the district participated in the exam, marking a significant step towards literacy. The overwhelming participation reflects the growing awareness and enthusiasm for education among those who had previously been deprived of formal learning opportunities.
The exam was conducted with the support of D.El.Ed. trainees from DIET Ferozepur and volunteer nodal incharges from various schools. DIET faculty members also visited different blocks to oversee the examination process, ensuring its smooth execution.
With this initiative, thousands of individuals are now transitioning from being non-literate to literate, fostering a more informed and empowered society.
