Jaswant Singh Kanwal Will Be Back In Dhudike Tomorrow, Courtesy Arts Council, "Adaara 23 March"
Ferozepur, March 24, 2025; The literary and ideological positions and contribution of the much celebrated novelist, essayist, and thinker Jaswant Singh Kanwal will be once again centerstage at the one-day conclave of select writers and intellectuals, at Dhudike, Moga, tomorrow, March 25.
Organised by "Adara 23 March", in collaboration with Punjab Arts Council, Chandigarh, the event to be held at the Government College, Dhudike will see a galaxy of speakers, including scholar academician Dr Mehal Singh, vice-chancellor of Khalsa University, and award-winning Punjabi short story writer and novelist Balwinder Singh Grewal.
Well-known sports writer Principal Sarwan Singh will preside over the event, while Punjab Kala Parishad chairman Swarnjit Savi and Panjab University's Prof Yog Raj Angrish will also participate.
"Adara 23 March" director Dr Sumail Singh Sidhu, known for his radical delineation of Punjab's historical intellectual traditions, will be undergirding the event. "Jaswant Singh Kanwal's writings reflected deep social consciousness, revolutionary spirit, and a profound love for Punjab and its people," Dr Sidhu said, adding, "At a time when Punjab is passing through a political, social, intellectual, and even economic crisis, its thought leaders need to once again deeply engage with Kanwal who articulated the voices of the oppressed, talked of love, was a devotee of justice and revolution, and celebrated the innate dignity of fellow beings."
Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Principal of the Government College, Dhudike, said he, with his team of teachers and students, is looking forward to this event that could some day become a recurring feature in the literary calendar of the state.
