Former SSP, SP and two others convicted in infamous Moga Sex scandal case

Mohali, March 30, 2025: A CBI Court here has convicted former Moga SSP Devinder Singh Garcha, SP (Headquarters) Paramdip Singh Sandhu and two other cops in infamous Moga Sex scandal case. These police officials have been convicted under Prevention of Corruption Act in 18 year old case. Quantum of sentence will be pronounced on April 4, 2025.
Court has acquitted Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar son of former minister Tota Singh and Sukhraj Singh of all the charges.
This case has made headlines in 2007 when it was revealed that politicians and senior police officials who use to extort rich youths by trapping them in flesh trade case.
These convicted officials use to take illegal gratification to drop the names of the accused from the statements of two women.
In this case a minor girl was initially granted pardon who had turned approver but she later turned hostile. Another witness Manjit Kaur died during the trial.
In this case Inspector Amarjit Singh and Sub-Inspector Raman Kumar were dismissed from service.
The Punjab and Haryana high court had ordered a CBI investigation in December 2007. In year 2012, a CBI court in Patiala had framed charges under Sections 120 B, 182, 195, 211, 384 of the IPC, Sections 7 and Section 13(2) read with section 13(1) (d) of the PC Act, 1988 against Devinder Singh Garcha, Paramdip Singh Sandhu, Amarjit Singh, Raman Kumar, Barjinder Singh, Manjit Kaur, Sukhraj Singh, Ranbir Singh, and Karamjit Singh Batth.
But now court has acquitted, Barjinder Singh alias Makhan Brar and Sukhraj Singh.
