No combine harvester will be used without installing Super SMS - Additional District Magistrate
Babushahi Bureau
Ferozepur (Punjab), April 4, 2025: Additional District Magistrate Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bombah, PCS. has imposed a complete ban on harvesting of wheat with combines in Ferozepur district from 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM in exercise of powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Act.
In addition, the owners of combines harvesting wheat in Ferozepur district have been instructed that before using the harvester combine, it will be mandatory to get it inspected for operational suitability by the Agriculture Department and no combine harvester will be used without installing Super SMS.
According to the order, he said that the wheat harvesting season is about to begin. It has been observed that combines are generally used for harvesting wheat for 24 hours.
Therefore, there is a risk of loss of life and property and accidents due to the operation of combines at night. In addition, green wheat which is not properly dried is harvested at night with the combine and due to this, the green harvested wheat turns black after drying, as a result, the farmers have to suffer directly. Due to the inability to sell wet wheat in the markets, the law and order situation sometimes deteriorates.
Apart from this, it is also seen that many old combines are also used for harvesting, which deteriorates the quality of wheat and also has an adverse effect on many combines. Due to non-sale of wheat, there is resentment among the farmers and such resentment worsens the law and order situation.
This order will remain in force in Ferozepur district till 31.05.2025.
