Chandigarh, April 16, 2025: Chandigarh, April 16, 2025 - Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has got a big relief from the Punjab-Haryana High Court. The High Court has placed a temporary stay on his arrest till April 22, 2025.
Along with this, the High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab Government and sought its response on the matter.
Notably, Partap Bajwa has filed a petition in court requesting the quashing of the FIR lodged against him. The High Court granted an interim stay on his arrest and directed the Punjab Police to continue with the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition has also been asked to cooperate with the probe.
When the media asked Partap Bajwa about the matter following the court hearing, he declined to comment, terming it sub-judice.
According to the information, the Punjab Police had registered a case against Partap Singh Bajwa due to a statement made on a private channel, in which he claimed the presence of 32 bombs in Punjab.
Considering this statement as a threat to security, the police had initiated action, against which Bajwa filed a petition in the High Court. Now Bajwa has got relief with the decision of the High Court.
The High Court in its order said that Bajwa's arrest is stayed till April 22, while the Punjab government has been asked to file a response regarding the reaction of the case.
