Punjab youth dies in tragic road accident in US

Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala), April 23, 2025: A wave of grief has engulfed the village of Bhagoarayan in Sultanpur Lodhi constituency, Kapurthala district, following the tragic death of a local youth in a road accident in the United States.
The deceased, identified as Gurminder Singh, 31, son of Jarnail Singh, had moved to America in 2018 in pursuit of better career opportunities and a brighter future.Known to many as Gurminder Cheema, he had become a beloved member of his community both abroad and at home.
According to sources, the incident occurred in the city of Ridley, United States, when Gurminder was out for a walk in the evening.
Tragically, he was struck from behind by two vehicles in a case of suspected negligent driving. Though emergency services responded quickly and transported him to the hospital, Gurminder succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The news has left his family and the entire village in deep mourning. Unmarried at the time of his passing, Gurminder’s family had been preparing to arrange his marriage, hopeful for the next chapter in his life—a dream now shattered.
Prominent figures from the area have visited the grieving family, offering condolences and support in this time of profound loss.
