Senior journalist Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty was on Sunday elected as the first woman President of the Press Club of India (PCI), marking a historic milestone for the prestigious journalists’ body.
Her panel registered a sweeping victory, winning all office-bearer and managing committee positions with an emphatic 21–0 mandate in the elections held on Saturday, December 13. The counting of votes was completed on Sunday.
Afzal Imam was elected Secretary General, while Jatin Gandhi was chosen as Vice President. P.R. Sunil secured the post of Joint Secretary, and Aditi Rajput was elected Treasurer.
