DAV College Teachers across Punjab stage hunger strike; Plan Delhi protest on April 29
Ferozepur, April 26, 2025: Teachers from DAV colleges across Punjab, under the banner of the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union (PCCTU), launched a hunger strike today from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM to press for their long-pending demands. Three to five members from each unit participated in the strike.
At DAV College for Women, Ferozepur Cantonment, Unit President Dr. Amritpal Kaur Sandhu and Secretary Dr. Meenakshi Mittal informed that the teachers are demanding the uniform implementation of the revised pay commission, the application of a uniform CPF deduction policy for all regular teachers, opposition to granting autonomous status to HMV College Jalandhar, immediate approval of long-pending CAS promotion cases, and prompt payment of pending salaries in some colleges.
The leaders announced that on April 29, 2025, under the slogan “Chalo Dilli,” DAV College teachers from across Punjab will hold a peaceful protest in front of the DAV College Managing Committee office in New Delhi from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
Today, Dr. Amritpal Kaur, Dr. Meenakshi Mittal, Dr. Anupama, and Dr. Balveen Kaur participated in the hunger strike. The unit members warned that if their rightful demands are not met, the PCCTU will intensify the agitation.
