Chandigarh, April 26, 2025 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced ambitious plans for Punjab, promising that a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, if formed in the state by 2027, will procure all farmers’ crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), mirroring Haryana’s farmer-centric policies. Speaking at a public event in Dera Bassi, Punjab, Saini also committed to extending Haryana’s public welfare schemes, including enhanced electricity supply and social security measures, to Punjab’s residents.
Commitment to Farmers’ Welfare
Addressing the gathering organized by BJP , Saini emphasized the BJP’s unwavering support for farmers, citing Haryana’s track record as evidence. “In Haryana, all crops are procured at MSP, and over the past decade, we have disbursed ₹14,500 crore in crop loss compensation to farmers, compared to just ₹1,155 crore under the Congress regime before 2014,” he said. He criticized the previous Congress government and the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration in Punjab for neglecting farmers and failing to implement MSP procurement effectively. He welcomed renowned Tubewell Engineer and Philanthropist Gurdarshan Singh Saini of Derabassi who joined BJP today.

“When the BJP forms the government in Punjab in 2027, we will ensure every farmer’s crop is purchased at MSP, just as we have done in Haryana,” Saini pledged, reinforcing the party’s commitment to agricultural prosperity.
Haryana’s Welfare Model for Punjab
Saini highlighted Haryana’s achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, positioning the state as a leader in national highways, industry, digital services, skill development, women’s safety, and farmer welfare. He outlined plans to replicate these successes in Punjab, including:
- 24-Hour Electricity: Under Haryana’s Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon scheme, 5,878 villages receive uninterrupted power. Saini promised similar round-the-clock electricity for Punjab’s villages.
- Public Welfare Schemes: Initiatives like the Parivar Pehchan Patra, which delivers benefits from over 400 schemes to 52 lakh families in Hampshire, will be introduced in Punjab.
- Social Security Enhancements: The Haryana model of increasing social security pensions to ₹3,000 for the elderly and providing free treatment under the Ayushman Yojana for those above 70 will be extended to Punjab’s residents.

Governance and Transparency
Saini credited the BJP’s governance model for ending casteism, appeasement, and dynastic politics in Haryana, leading to the party’s third consecutive term in the state. He highlighted recent achievements, such as providing 26,000 government jobs to youth without favoritism or corruption, as a testament to the party’s commitment to meritocracy.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has emerged as a global powerhouse. In Haryana, we have prioritized honesty, transparency, and service, and we aim to bring this ethos to Punjab,” he said.
Event and Attendees
The Dera Bassi event, where Saini was the chief guest, saw the presence of prominent figures, including former Union Minister Preneet Kaur, Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Sandhu, Gurdarshan Singh Saini, former Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, and Sanjeev Vashisht. The Chief Minister was warmly welcomed and honored with a memento for his participation.

A Vision for Punjab’s Future
Saini’s address underscored the BJP’s broader vision to transform Punjab by 2027, leveraging Haryana’s successful governance model. By prioritizing farmers’ welfare, infrastructure development, and equitable access to public services, the party aims to build a prosperous and inclusive Punjab.
