Amid tensions over Pahalgam attack, SAD(A) pushes for opening of Hussainiwala Border; raises questions over lapses
Ferozepur, April 26, 2025: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) President Simranjeet Singh Mann held a press conference in Ferozepur, announcing that his party will organize a meeting on May 3 to demand the opening of the Hussainiwala border.
Addressing the media amid rising tensions following the Pahalgam massacre — in which 26 members of a particular community were killed by terrorists — Mann emphasized that the opening of the Hussainiwala border would significantly boost India's economy, provide job opportunities to the youth, and help steer them away from drugs.
Mann criticized India's security agencies, calling the Pahalgam incident a "failure of national security." He also questioned the government's claims about the Balakot air strike, stating that there was no concrete proof linking Pakistan to the attack on the minority community.
He accused the central government of blaming Pakistan without evidence, suggesting it was an attempt to cover up the failure of India's own security apparatus in Kashmir. Mann insisted that accountability within domestic agencies is crucial instead of shifting blame externally without substantiation.
