Haryana CM Saini flags off 'Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0' in Sirsa

Sirsa (Haryana), April 27, 2025: In a major push toward a healthier and stronger society, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday flagged off the ‘Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0’ from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium in Sirsa, urging citizens from all walks of life to unite in the mission to eradicate drugs from the state.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that to realize the dream of a developed India and a developed Haryana, the state must first be made drug-free.He called upon saints, khap panchayats, sarpanches, and the general public to rise above political differences and come together to empower Haryana’s youth.
Leading by example, Saini himself cycled to the event venue, symbolizing solidarity with the cause. The Cyclothon will pass through various parts of Sirsa city before culminating at Odhan.
The Chief Minister also paid homage at Shree Sarsai Nath Ji, Gurudwara Shri Chilla Sahib, and Tara Baba Ji, stating that the energy and unity seen today at the Cyclothon reflect Haryana’s collective strength in the fight against drugs. He praised the support extended by Khap Panchayats to the initiative.
Highlighting the success of the campaign, CM Saini noted that the Cyclothon, which started from Hisar on April 5, traversed the entire state over 23 days, spreading awareness on drug de-addiction, health, environment, road safety, and youth empowerment.
He congratulated the participating youth for tirelessly carrying the message of a drug-free society to every corner, asserting that when the goal is noble and public participation is strong, any societal evil can be uprooted.
“Haryana is the land of Jawan, Pehlwan, and Kisan. There is no place for drugs here,” Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said, urging everyone to take a pledge to make every village and every home free of drugs.
He further highlighted government initiatives:
- De-addiction centers set up in hospitals and medical colleges.
- Establishment of an Inter-State Drug Secretariat in Panchkula to curb drug trafficking.
- Launch of the MANAS Portal where citizens can confidentially report drug trafficking incidents.
The Chief Minister shared that sarpanches have been encouraged to lead village-level efforts toward being drug-free, pollution-free, and excelling in health and cleanliness. Villages securing the top three spots statewide will receive cash awards of Rs. 51 lakh, Rs. 31 lakh, and Rs. 21 lakh, respectively.
SHOs who successfully make their jurisdictions drug-free will also be honored and rewarded.
Appealing to the people, CM Saini urged citizens not to isolate drug-affected individuals but instead help them reintegrate into society with compassion and support.
The event was graced by Cabinet Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi, BJP State President Mohan Lal Kaushik, and several other distinguished guests, all reaffirming their commitment to making Haryana a drug-free and empowered state.
