National Lok Adalat to be held in Ferozepur, Zira, Guruharsahai on May 10
Ferozepur, May 7, 2025: In line with the guidelines issued by the National Legal Services Authority and the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar (Mohali), a National Lok Adalat is scheduled to be held on May 10, 2025, at District Courts Ferozepur, as well as Sub-Tehsil courts in Zira and Guru Har Sahai.
The initiative will be conducted under the leadership of Sumit Malhotra, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). To ensure maximum success of the event, pre-Lok Adalats are also being organised to pre-screen and streamline cases for early resolution during the main Lok Adalat.
According to the DLSA, the Lok Adalat will address a wide range of cases, including civil disputes, family matters, civil executions, bank recovery cases, partial civil matters, and partial civil issues. Apart from these, cases such as revenue matters, cheque bounce cases, criminal executions, traffic challans, bank loan disputes, and insurance recovery cases—excluding serious criminal offences—will also be heard.
Decisions made in the Lok Adalat are legally binding, carry the weight of a civil court decree, and are not subject to appeal, making them a fast and cost-effective alternative to prolonged litigation.
District and Sessions Judge Malhotra urged the public to participate actively, stating, “Resolve disputes, strengthen harmony—get quick and affordable justice through Lok Adalats. Save your time and money by settling your cases amicably.”
The DLSA has encouraged all eligible individuals to take advantage of this opportunity for speedy justice and legal relief.
