In a significant step towards promoting transparency, informed governance, and administrative efficiency, the Punjab State Information Commission has established a dedicated library at its headquarters in Chandigarh. The facility aims to serve as a knowledge hub, providing comprehensive resources on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, governance laws, and administrative practices.
The library was formally inaugurated by Chief Information Commissioner Inderpal Singh in the presence of State Information Commissioners Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal, Virinderjit Singh Billing, Dr. Bhupinder Singh Baath, Harpreet Sandhu, and Pooja Gupta. This initiative is part of the Commission's broader efforts to enhance the capacity of its staff, support legal research, and promote a culture of transparency among stakeholders.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Information Commissioner Inderpal Singh emphasized the importance of accessible information and continuous learning for effective governance. He highlighted that the library will not only benefit Commission staff but also serve as a resource for researchers, legal professionals, and citizens seeking to understand transparency laws.
The library’s collection includes a wide array of books, journals, brochures, and legal commentaries, with a particular focus on the RTI Act, transparency laws, governance reforms, and landmark judicial pronouncements.
Notably, a significant portion of the collection has been curated by State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu, featuring his authored works on comparative legal studies. The library offers literature in both English and Punjabi, ensuring accessibility for a diverse readership.

Artistic installations and quotes emphasizing the value of knowledge have been thoughtfully incorporated into the library’s design, making it an inviting space for reading and reflection. The Commission has also planned to periodically update the collection to keep pace with evolving legal frameworks and governance best practices.
The establishment of this library aligns with the Commission’s mandate to promote transparency, accountability, and citizens' right to information across Punjab. It is expected to become a vital resource for those seeking in-depth knowledge of RTI and related governance matters.
