Bathinda: Farmer leader who contested assembly elections murdered by son

Bathinda (Punjab), May 12, 2025: In a tragic turn of events, farmer leader Davinder Singh Sran, a resident of Gurusar Jaga who contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections from Talwandi Sabo on behalf of farmers' organizations, was murdered, allegedly by his own son, over a domestic land dispute.
According to Sukhwinder Kaur, wife of the deceased, the Talwandi Sabo police have registered a murder case against Amaninder Singh (son of the victim), along with Tarlok Singh, son of Chand Singh, and Hamli Singh, son of Joginder Singh, both residents of Bhagivander. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
DSP Rajesh Snehi Batta stated that the incident occurred on May 10 during a dispute over agricultural land, where Sran was fatally attacked with a knife by his son and associates. He succumbed to his injuries today.
“The preliminary investigation reveals a longstanding land dispute between the deceased and his son. Continuous raids are underway to arrest all those involved,” DSP Batta confirmed.
