Pahalgam Terror Attack: Posters of wanted terrorists released, Rs 20 lakh reward announced for information

Jammu, May 13, 2025:The Jammu and Kashmir Police have released posters of terrorists involved in the brutal massacre of 26 tourists in Pahalgam on April 22. The posters, which include sketches of the suspects, have been put up across various areas of Shopian district.
Authorities have announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for credible information leading to their arrest, and have assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
Prime Suspect Identified as Adil Thokar
According to police reports, Adil Thokar, a resident of Anantnag district, has been identified as the main accused in the deadly attack. Thokar allegedly travelled to Pakistan in 2018, received terrorist training there, and returned to Jammu and Kashmir last year.He is believed to be working as a local guide for Pakistani terrorists operating in the region.
Another suspect, Asif Sheikh, a resident of Tral in Pulwama district, is also under investigation for possible involvement in the attack that targeted tourists in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam.
Terrorists’ Homes Demolished
On April 25, in a major crackdown following the Pahalgam massacre, security forces demolished the houses of Adil Thokar in Bijbehara (Anantnag) and Asif Sheikh in Tral (Pulwama) using controlled explosions. The police believe these properties were used to facilitate terrorist activities.
Army Responds with 'Operation Sindoor'
Following the attack, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist camps located across the border in Pakistan. The operation reportedly destroyed several hideouts and resulted in the deaths of multiple terrorists involved in planning and executing attacks on Indian soil.
Sketches Released, Hunt Intensifies
Police have released sketches of Thokar and two other terrorists believed to be directly involved in the Pahalgam massacre. Each of the three terrorists now carries a ₹20 lakh bounty. Security agencies have intensified efforts across South Kashmir to track down and neutralize the perpetrators.
The Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, has drawn widespread condemnation and triggered nationwide calls for justice. Authorities are urging the public to share any information that may help in apprehending the terrorists, reaffirming their commitment to eradicating terrorism from the region.
