Security of Nangal Dam Handed Over to CISF; Home Ministry Issues Orders

Chandigarh, May 22, 2025 – In a major decision to enhance the security of the Bhakra Nangal Dam, the Government of India has approved the deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the project site in Nangal, Punjab. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned the creation of 296 posts in the CISF’s Security Wing for this purpose.
The order, issued on May 19, 2025, by CISF Headquarters, states that a security deposit of ₹2.90 lakh per head has been fixed for the financial year 2025-26, amounting to a total of ₹8.58 crore for all 296 posts. The concerned authorities have been directed to deposit the amount promptly to enable the release of the sanctioned posts.
Additionally, the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has been instructed to complete all necessary pre-induction formalities such as family and bachelor accommodation, transport, communication equipment, security gadgets, and other basic amenities required for CISF deployment.
This move is expected to significantly strengthen the security framework of one of the country’s most vital water infrastructure projects.
