Nawanshahr (Punjab), May 24, 2025: In a rare and touching outcome, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) succeeded in reuniting a long-separated married couple during the National Lok Adalat held in Nawanshahr and Balachaur on Saturday.
Organized under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority and as per the directives of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, the event witnessed not only legal dispute resolutions but also a rekindling of personal bonds. District and Sessions Judge-cum-DLSA Chairperson Priya Sood oversaw the proceedings.
One of the day’s highlights was the case of Narinderjit Dhir vs. Neelam Rani, a couple who had been living apart for years with their case pending in the Family Court.
Through persistent counseling by Principal Judge Baljinder Singh Maan and CJM-cum-DLSA Secretary Dr. Amandeep, the couple was encouraged to reconsider their differences.
After heartfelt discussions and mediation, both Narinderjit and Neelam agreed to give their marriage a second chance, deciding to live together once again. Their case was formally resolved in the National Lok Adalat with mutual consent.A visibly emotional Narinderjit Dhir expressed gratitude to the DLSA, saying, “Thanks to their efforts, my home has been rebuilt today.”
Family members from both sides praised the initiative and urged others to utilize the National Lok Adalat platform to resolve disputes amicably. They applauded the DLSA SBS Nagar for not only delivering justice but also restoring peace and happiness in people’s lives.
This successful reunion underscores the human side of the justice system, where courts not only resolve legal matters but sometimes heal broken homes.
