"Our relatives are millionaires, but no one helped us"– Mittal family’s final cry before mass suicide in Panchkula

Panchkula (Haryana), May 27, 2025: A heartbreaking incident in Sector 27, Panchkula, has shaken the region, where seven members of a single family died by suicide late Monday night.
In a chilling turn, the family patriarch, Praveen Mittal, reportedly shared his final words just minutes before his death, revealing deep financial distress and abandonment by wealthy relatives.
What Praveen Mittal Said Before Dying
According to eyewitness Harish Rana, when he reached the parked car where the family was found, Praveen Mittal was the only one still conscious.
“At first, he said, ‘We’re all just resting,’ but something felt off,” Rana said. Upon further questioning, Praveen broke down and confessed:“Our entire family is drowning in debt. No one is helping us.
Our relatives are millionaires, but they haven’t lifted a finger.
That’s why we took this step.”
Just five minutes later, Praveen too lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead shortly after.
Family’s Financial Struggles
The Mittal family was reportedly burdened with debts amounting to ₹15–20 crore. Praveen had already sold or left behind all major assets, including their flat, car, and factory. As financial pressures mounted, coupled with threats from creditors and complete lack of support from friends and family, the family saw no way out.
In a desperate attempt to survive, Praveen had begun working as a taxi driver in recent months.
Horrifying Scene Discovered at Midnight
At approximately 12:15 AM on Monday night, police discovered the lifeless bodies of seven family members inside a parked car near an empty plot in Sector 27. Among the deceased were Praveen Mittal, his wife, their three children, and his elderly parents.
Police Investigation Underway
Police have launched a full investigation under the angle of suicide. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning nearby residents to trace the family’s final movements and determine if external factors contributed to the tragedy.
