CM Mann visits Samana, assures justice for families of 7 school children killed in accident

Samana (Punjab), June 7, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today visited Samana, where a tragic road accident recently claimed the lives of seven schoolchildren, sparking statewide grief and outrage.
Calling the incident "deeply heartbreaking," CM Mann met the grieving families, extended condolences, and assured strict action against those responsible.The families have demanded justice and accountability, citing negligence in the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Key Announcements and Assurances by CM Mann:
- Strict Action Against Delayed FIR: CM Mann said that police officers who delayed the FIR will either be transferred or suspended. “No one will be spared,” he declared.
- Tipper Driver Arrest Orders Issued: He confirmed that orders have been given to arrest the truck driver (referred to as Tipper Malik) allegedly responsible for the tragedy.
- Children’s Memorial Park & Trust: A Children’s Memorial Park will be established in memory of the seven students. Additionally, the government will support the creation of a Children’s Memorial Trust initiated by the families.
- Children’s Memorial Ambulances: On June 13, Punjab will receive new ambulances, seven of which will be dedicated to Samana and labeled "Children’s Memorial Ambulance."
- Samana Hospital and School Upgrades:
- Samana’s government hospital will be upgraded.
- The local government school will be transformed into a School of Eminence, with 15–20 buses allocated.
- Samana Road to be Four-Laned: The road where the accident occurred will be converted into a four-lane stretch to prevent future mishaps.
- Mining Under Judicial Inquiry: A judicial inquiry into illegal mining operations in the area has been ordered.
- Crackdown on Tipper Owners: The government has sought license and medical reports of all tipper truck owners across Punjab. “This tragedy may help uncover a larger nexus,” Mann said.
- Bus Safety Reforms in Schools: The CM emphasized the urgent need for safety checks on school buses and drivers across the state.
CM Mann assured that no political or administrative figure would be shielded, stating, “Even if someone belongs to my own party, they will not be spared if found guilty.”
In a sign of restored confidence, the families have agreed to end their protest. “I stand with the families in this hour of grief,” CM Mann said as he pledged long-term reforms in road safety, enforcement, and accountability.
