Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, June 7, 2025: Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij announced that Ambala Cantonment is all set to welcome its first Night Food Street, offering a wide range of dishes from every state of India.
The project, located next to Gandhi Ground, will feature 60 food stalls—40 vegetarian and 20 non-vegetarian—and is expected to be completed within the next two months.
Calling it a unique food and tourism initiative, Vij emphasized that the Night Food Street will not only cater to food lovers but also generate indirect employment and become a major attraction for residents and visitors alike.
Surprise Inspection by Minister Vij
On Saturday, the Minister conducted a surprise inspection of the under-construction site and issued directions to Municipal Council officials to expedite the work and maintain high quality standards.
The project is being constructed in two phases with an estimated cost of ₹5.5 crore, and the first phase is already complete.
Modern Amenities and Eco-Friendly Features
Vij shared that the market will be fully air-conditioned, with a common seating area and a dedicated parking facility. It will also include granite flooring and decorative features to enhance the visitor experience.
In a move to ensure environmental responsibility, the Minister added that a treatment plant will be installed at the site to manage wastewater and food waste, ensuring nothing pollutes local drains.
“This Night Food Street will reflect the diversity of India’s cuisine while offering comfort, hygiene, and a lively atmosphere,” said Anil Vij.
The project is being executed under the leadership and initiative of the Cabinet Minister and is expected to revitalize Ambala’s evening culture while offering a taste of India in one place.
