Rupnagar’s Jaspreet Singh secures bronze at Asian Kayaking Championship in Thailand

Rupnagar (Punjab), June 13, 2025 – Bringing pride to Punjab and the nation, Jaspreet Singh of Choti Haveli village, Rupnagar, has secured third position in the K-4 1000 meter race at the Asian Kayaking Championship, currently being held in Thailand from June 12 to June 15, 2025.
This remarkable achievement has drawn widespread appreciation from local leaders and the sports community.
Rupnagar MLA Advocate Dinesh Kumar Chadha and Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia extended heartfelt congratulations to Jaspreet and his family, lauding his dedication and talent.They also expressed their hopes for his continued success in international competitions.
According to Jagjeevan Singh, Coach and District Sports Officer, Jaspreet’s sporting journey began in 2018. Initially a talented hockey player, he transitioned to kayaking upon the encouragement of his coach, who recognized his athletic potential.
Jaspreet’s father, Manjinder Singh, a former skilled hockey player and currently a physical education teacher, has been a guiding force in his son’s career.
Jaspreet’s rapid rise through the national ranks saw him win medals at national kayaking events and earn a spot in the National Games, where he finished fourth.
Currently, Jaspreet is undergoing intensive training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) center in Bhopal, aiming to further elevate his performance on the international stage.
