Ferozepur gets direct train to Hazur Sahib, fulfilling long-pending demand of border district
Ferozepur, June 13, 2025: A long-pending demand of the residents of the border district was fulfilled today with the launch of a direct train from Ferozepur to Nanded Hazur Sahib. The train was ceremoniously flagged off at the Cantonment Railway Station by BJP National Executive Member Dr. Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi.
Before the departure, a special prayer (Ardas) was offered in the presence of several prominent religious figures including Baba Kuldeep Singh Charan Sahib Wale, Dal Panth’s Jathedar Baba Deep Singh, Sant Baba Karam Singh Bhaval Wale, Jathedar Baba Satnam Singh Hazur Sahib, SGPC members Satpal Singh Talwandi and Darshan Singh Sherkhan, Baba Gurmel Singh Jamni Sahib Kar Sewa, and Sant Baba Sucha Singh Nanaksar. Dr. Rana Sodhi honoured all the Singh Sahibs with ‘Siropas’ (robes of honor), and the station echoed with the religious slogan “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal.” SGPC also arranged Langar (community meal) for the devotees.
Dr. Sodhi announced that Train No. 14622 Ferozepur-Nanded Express will depart every Friday at 1:25 PM from Ferozepur and reach Nanded on Sunday at 3:30 AM. The train will comprise 19 coaches, including 1 generator car, 1 luggage van, 7 sleeper coaches, 4 general coaches, 4 third AC coaches, 1 third AC economy coach, and 2 second AC coaches.
He stated that this service will benefit not only Sikh devotees visiting Hazur Sahib but also pilgrims traveling to Shirdi Sai Baba and Shani Shingnapur. He termed this train as a gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the people of Ferozepur, who he said has consistently worked for Punjab’s progress.
Rana Sodhi further announced that a direct train to Haridwar will start on Wednesday, June 18. The Moga Intercity Superfast Express, which currently runs from Moga to Delhi, will now be extended to start from Ferozepur every Monday and Friday, enhancing travel convenience for the district’s residents. He also revealed that the long-suspended Ferozepur-Chandigarh train service will resume with AC coaches by the end of June or the first week of July.
He expressed gratitude to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving these demands, calling it a significant development for the border district under the leadership of PM Modi.
Passenger Sardar Saratbir Singh Brar from village Noorpur Setha said the direct train to Hazur Sahib is a valuable gift from the Centre. As soon as he heard about the train, he planned a pilgrimage to Hazur Sahib with his wife.
