Punjab soldier dies on duty in Kolkata, village mourns braveheart Gurpreet Singh

Chandigarh, June 17, 2025: A tragic moment for Punjab as a 22-year-old Indian Army soldier from the state died on duty after suffering a cardiac arrest in Kolkata. Gurpreet Singh, a native of Guruvali village near Tarn Taran Road in Amritsar, was serving in the 2 Sikh Regiment under General Duty when he suddenly collapsed due to health complications.

According to family members and army sources, Gurpreet Singh had joined the Indian Army on December 19, 2022, and was known for his discipline and dedication.
Stationed in Kolkata, Gurpreet reportedly fell ill and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared that a heart attack and blood infection led to his untimely death.
Akhand Path Sahib on June 19 to Pray for the Departed Soul
News of his death has cast a shadow of grief over his village. Heartbroken family members, relatives, and villagers mourned the young soldier, remembering his courage and kindness.
His father shared that a Sri Akhand Path Sahib will be held on June 19 in the village, inviting residents from the entire region to pay their respects.
