Health Dept launches week-long immunization drive for kids and expectant mothers
Ferozepur, June 24, 2025: To ensure better health for children and pregnant women and protect them from life-threatening diseases, the Health Department will organize a Special Immunization Week from June 25 to July 1, during which special vaccination camps will be held across the district. This information was shared by Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, Civil Surgeon, Ferozepur, after a meeting on immunization planning.
Dr. Kaur stated that this special drive aims to vaccinate children and pregnant women who might have missed scheduled doses for any reason. “Vaccination is crucial to preventing diseases, and it has already helped eliminate polio from the country. Timely immunization is essential if we want to protect our children from other deadly diseases,” she emphasized.
During the week, health department teams will cover entire high-risk areas of the district, including slums, brick kilns, and underprivileged settlements. The target is to vaccinate children up to 16 years of age and pregnant women, ensuring no eligible person is left out.
Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra, District Immunization Officer, informed that over 3,000 children and around 300 pregnant women are expected to be vaccinated during the drive. She also noted that the department provides free immunization against several life-threatening diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis B, encephalitis, diphtheria, whooping cough, pneumonia, diarrheal diseases, measles-rubella, and tetanus.
Sanjeev Sharma, District Mass Media Officer, along with Ankush Bhandari and Neha Bhandari, Deputy Mass Media Officers, appealed to parents to ensure timely vaccination of their children as per the recommended schedule. “It’s the key to protecting children from dangerous diseases and building a healthier society,” they said.
