Ban on hookah bar, wedding firing, drone flights in new security order

Rupnagar (Punjab), June 25, 2025 — In a significant move to bolster public safety and maintain law and order, the Rupnagar District Administration has issued a series of strict directives.
The orders, released by District Magistrate Varjeet Walia, target multiple areas ranging from weapon displays to drone usage, and tenant verification. The aim is to curb unlawful activities, enhance security, and protect citizens from potential threats.
Ban on Weapons and Firing at Weddings
Carrying weapons or firing celebratory gunshots at weddings in Rupnagar is now strictly prohibited.
District Magistrate Walia emphasized that such actions not only violate the law but also endanger lives and property. The administration warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators.
Mandatory Police Verification for Tenants and Guests
All hotel owners, dhaba operators, and landlords are now required to report details of any new tenants or guests to the local police station or outpost.
This step is part of a broader initiative to monitor criminal or terrorist activities and ensure security in the district. Non-compliance will result in penal action against the property owners or business establishments.
Complete Ban on Hookah Bars
In line with Punjab’s policy against tobacco usage, the operation of hookah bars in Rupnagar has been completely banned.
The district administration has announced that strict action will be taken against any hotel, restaurant, or banquet hall found serving hookah, citing public health and safety concerns.
Crackdown on Fake Animal Semen
The sale and distribution of unauthorized or fake animal semen has also been banned under directives from the Animal Husbandry Department.This action follows reports of illegal activities in some areas and aims to protect livestock and ensure ethical veterinary practices.
Nangal Declared a ‘No-Drone Zone’
In view of national security concerns, Nangal has been declared a "No Drone Zone". Flying of drones, paragliders, microlight aircraft, and air balloons has been strictly prohibited in the region.
Authorities believe the step is essential to safeguard sensitive areas and reinforce aerial security.
The district administration has urged citizens to adhere to these guidelines and cooperate with law enforcement. Officials stated that these measures are essential for public safety and will be enforced with immediate effect.
