Dharampur Bridge Work Leads to Lake Formation
In Padchhu, Dharampur (along the Jalandhar-Attari-Mandi National Highway), heavy rainfall caused debris from an under-construction bridge to block the natural flow of a ravine.
This has resulted in the formation of a temporary lake, submerging the Gasia Mata Temple, Sarai, and a cremation ground. Authorities have flagged that nearby villages are at risk due to rising water levels.
Local authorities and disaster response teams are on high alert, with rescue and relief operations underway in affected regions. The Himachal Pradesh government has urged residents, especially in flood-prone areas, to remain cautious and avoid travel unless necessary.
