Chandigarh, June 28, 2025: In a major development, the Central Government has appointed senior IPS officer Parag Jain, of the 1989 Punjab cadre, as the new Chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India's external intelligence agency.
He will replace the current RAW chief Ravi Sinha, whose term ends on June 30. Jain will officially assume charge on July 1, 2025, for a fixed tenure of two years.
Parag Jain brings with him a wealth of experience in intelligence and national security. He has served in various key roles including as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandigarh, and has represented India on international postings in Canada and Sri Lanka.
His tenure in Jammu and Kashmir saw him play a vital role in formulating and executing counter-terrorism strategies.
Currently, Jain heads the Aviation Research Centre (ARC), where he oversaw critical intelligence gathering on Pakistani military activity and terror hideouts, which paved the way for the Indian Army’s successful Operation Sindoor.
