Indian Cycling team selected for Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

Bhawanigarh, July 1, 2025:Trials for the selection of the Indian cycling team for the upcoming Asian Youth Games in Bahrain were organized by the Cycling Federation of India, in collaboration with the Sangrur Cycling Association, at Bhawanigarh. Junior male and female cyclists from various states across the country participated in these trials.
The trials were conducted on the Delhi-Katra Expressway, featuring a 20-kilometer Individual Time Trial for boys and a 15-kilometer Individual Time Trial for girls.
The results are as follows:
Junior Boys – 20 km Individual Time Trial:
1st Place – Aditya Jakhar (Rajasthan)
2nd Place – Alok Bishnoi (Rajasthan)
3rd Place – Lokesh Chaudhary (Rajasthan)
4th Place – Sunny (Haryana)
Junior Girls – 15 km Individual Time Trial:
1st Place – Anjali Jakhar (Rajasthan)
2nd Place – Rukmani (Rajasthan)
3rd Place – Prajakta Suryawanshi (Maharashtra)
4th Place – Nikita Shinde (Maharashtra)
Addressing the occasion, Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, Convener of the Athletes Commission of the Cycling Federation of India and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee, shared that the trials were conducted under the leadership of Onkar Singh, Chairman of the Cycling Federation of India, and Maninder Singh, Secretary General of the Federation.
Kahlon stated that it is a matter of great pride that the selection trials for an international competition were held in Punjab, and a large number of people attended the event.
He emphasized that such events will help raise awareness about professional cycling among the public and encourage more youth from Punjab to take up the sport at a professional level.
He further added that a special training camp will be organized for the selected cyclists, enabling them to perform at their best and bring medals for the country on the international stage.
He also highlighted that continuous efforts are being made to develop cycling in Punjab and that a major cycling tournament will be organized in the state in the near future.Kahlon also mentioned that steps are being taken at the district level to promote cycling, involving both national and international cyclists.
He expressed special thanks to the Government of Punjab, the Sangrur district administration, and especially the management of Verka Milk Plant, Sangrur, for their support in organizing this event.
The participating cyclists appreciated the arrangements and said they received immense love and respect in Punjab. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizers and the people of Punjab and said they would always remain indebted for the hospitality and encouragement.
