Chandigarh, July 10, 2025 — Youth Akali Dal President and Shiromani Akali Dal Working Committee Member Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer has lambasted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for what he called a “wasteful and evasive” two-day special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, accusing the Bhagwant Mann-led administration of dodging serious issues and blowing public money.
“The entire first day of the special session wrapped up in just 11 minutes with only obituary references — no Zero Hour, no discussions, no answers. And this cost the exchequer nearly ₹2 crore. That’s not governance, that’s mockery,” Jhinjer said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Calling the session a “costly joke on the people of Punjab,” Jhinjer asked why, in a state facing an alarming law and order crisis, mounting farmer unrest, and economic instability, the AAP government failed to hold meaningful debate.
“If the government intends to table the Sacrilege Bill tomorrow, why wasn’t today’s session used to address urgent public concerns? The Mann government is hiding behind PR optics and dodging accountability,” he said.
Jhinjer demanded a full seven-day legislative session, saying the state cannot afford two-day shows “designed for headlines instead of solutions.”He pointed to the spike in crime, saying Punjab’s law and order has collapsed.
“Daily daylight murders, extortion threats, and gangster attacks have made businessmen and industrialists feel unsafe. Just look at the recent ₹15,000 crore shift of industrial investments to Madhya Pradesh — Punjab’s entrepreneurs are packing their bags,” Jhinjer warned.
On the Land Pooling Policy, he accused the government of betrayal. “This isn’t pooling — it’s plundering. Farmers are being strong-armed into surrendering land despite widespread protest.”
The YAD leader said every section of society — from farmers and traders to youth and government employees — feels cheated. “There’s growing anger, yet the Mann government is busy with press conferences instead of policies.”
Jhinjer concluded with a sharp question:“Why is ₹2 crore of taxpayer money spent for just 11 minutes of legislature? What is AAP trying to hide?”
