Breaking: ED raids 7 locations in Punjab, Haryana in 'Donkey Route' case
Babushahi Bureau
Jalandhar (Punjab), July 14, 2025: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Jalandhar Zone, conducted a major search operation on July 11, 2025, at seven locations across the Mansa district of Punjab and Kurukshetra and Karnal districts of Haryana, as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
The case is linked to a human trafficking racket involving the ‘Dunkee Route’, which surfaced earlier this year following the mass deportation of Indian nationals from the United States in February 2025.
According to officials, the latest search was based on leads and evidence collected during an earlier operation conducted by the ED on July 9, 2025.
The investigation focuses on illegal immigration networks that facilitated unlawful entry into the US through dangerous backdoor routes involving fake documents, forged visas, and underground agents.
During the July 11 operation, the ED recovered and seized:
- Fake immigration tickets
- Forged visa templates
- Incriminating documents and records
- Digital devices containing data from multiple foreign countries
These materials are believed to be crucial in unraveling a broader syndicate involved in illegal immigration, financial fraud, and cross-border human smuggling.
The ED has confirmed that further investigation is underway, and more individuals connected to the racket may soon be summoned for questioning. The agency is also coordinating with international counterparts to trace the foreign links of this trafficking network.
