Two smugglers held, heroin-laden drones seized near Indo-Pak border
Ferozepur, July 22, 2025: In a major crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF), in coordination with Punjab Police, arrested two Indian drug traffickers and recovered two drones loaded with heroin in separate incidents along the Indo-Pak border in Punjab.
In the first incident, acting on a specific intelligence input, BSF troops in collaboration with Punjab Police conducted a raid on a suspicious house in village Donemattar, Ferozepur. The operation led to the arrest of two Indian drug smugglers along with a digital weighing scale and two motorcycles. The arrested individuals hail from Sri Muktsar Sahib and Meghraj, District Ferozepur. They have been handed over to police station Lakho ke Behram for further investigation regarding their network and hidden narcotics stock.
In another significant recovery, a BSF patrol team from BOP Kassoke, under Coy 99 BN BSF, Ferozepur, spotted drone activity near the Indo-Pak border. A search was conducted, resulting in the seizure of two packets containing approximately 525 grams of heroin and one DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone. An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and the Aircraft Act.
These incidents underscore growing concerns about the use of drones for cross-border smuggling and the urgent need for stringent monitoring and counter-drone measures.
