Mohali (Punjab), July 23, 2025: In a strong reaffirmation of the Punjab Government’s pro-farmer stance, Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh today clarified that the land pooling policy is entirely voluntary and pro-farmers.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Kulwant Singh assured the farming community that no land will be acquired under duress or coercion.
“Let me make it absolutely clear — under this policy, only those landowners who voluntarily offer their land will be part of the acquisition process,” he said.
He further emphasized that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government is fully committed in protecting farmers' rights and promoting transparent, participatory development.
Acknowledging the concerns raised by some farmers, he noted that certain apprehensions are understandable, particularly in light of the misinformation being spread by opposition parties without fully studying the policy.
“There is a pressing need to properly understand the land pooling model. Misleading propaganda is causing unnecessary fear among farmers,” he added.
Representing a constituency that includes 24 villages, MLA Kulwant Singh reiterated his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents. “Our policy is rooted in consent, not compulsion. For instance, if a farmer voluntarily offers 10 acres, only those 10 acres will be taken up for development.
Similarly, if someone is willing to contribute just 2 acres, only those 2 acres will be included — nothing more, nothing less,” he explained. He appealed to all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue rather than fall prey to politically motivated narratives.
“The government is open to suggestions and committed to transparency. Let us work together for the progress of Punjab while safeguarding the interests of our farmers," he announced.
