Chandigarh, July 30, 2025: The bail plea of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, currently lodged in Nabha jail in a disproportionate assets case, remained undecided after an intense, hours-long court hearing today.
The hearing began at 10:30 AM and continued until 3 PM, with legal teams from both sides presenting detailed arguments.Despite the lengthy proceedings, the court deferred its decision, scheduling the next hearing for August 1, meaning Majithia will remain behind bars for now.
Following the hearing, Majithia’s legal counsel alleged that the Punjab government is intentionally delaying the case. Advocate Arshdeep Singh Khaira, legal advisor to the Shiromani Akali Dal, stated, “The government has failed to substantiate its claims in court. What we are witnessing is merely a media trial.”
He also revealed that a petition has been filed requesting live streaming of the case to ensure transparency and allow the public to witness the proceedings firsthand.
Majithia was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on June 25 in connection with the disproportionate assets case. He is currently lodged in the new jail facility at Nabha.
