Farmers hold Tractor March in Ferozepur, Demand rollback of Land Pooling Policy
Ferozepur, July 30, 2025: Farmers under the banner of Bharti Kisan Union-Krantari Kisan Union, took out a tractor march in Ferozepur on Wedneday, joining a statewide protest against Punjab’s controversial Land Pooling Policy (LPP).
Participants from villages including Satiyawala, Mohkam Khan Wala, and Dooni Wala joined the protest, raising slogans against the policy which they claim threatens their livelihood.
Addressing the gathering, Avtar Singh Memha, State Press Secretary of Krantikari Kisan Union, said, “Our land is our bread and butter. We will not surrender it under the Land Pooling Policy. Today’s tractor march is our clear message to the government that farmers are united in opposition to this anti-farmer move.”
He alleged that the real motive behind the policy is to transfer agricultural land to corporate entities at throwaway prices, which will devastate Punjab's agrarian economy.
Memha further stated, “If the government does not withdraw the policy, we will intensify our agitation to safeguard farmland and resist corporatization of agriculture.” He added that the next major farmers’ gathering will be held in Mullanpur, where future protest strategies will be announced.
He also accused the state government of acting under pressure from Delhi and the Centre, claiming that policies are being framed to dismantle Punjab’s farming backbone.
