Chandigarh, August 5, 2025: Harish Malhotra, father of travel blogger Jyoti Malhotra, who was recently arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan, has written a heartfelt letter to President Droupadi Murmu, claiming that his daughter is innocent and is being falsely implicated by the police.
In the letter, Harish Malhotra alleged that police took Jyoti’s signatures on blank papers and later filled in statements to suit their narrative. He questioned the legitimacy of the investigation, stating that not a single piece of evidence related to sedition has been produced so far.
Citing the Hisar SP's own public remarks, Harish demanded that the FIR against his daughter be quashed. He also pointed out that IPC Section 152, which deals with obstruction of public servants, has been cited, but the FIR itself does not mention any sedition charge—raising questions about the legal basis for Jyoti’s continued custody.
He emphasized that Jyoti, a travel blogger by profession, had made video content during her Pakistan visit just like any ordinary blogger, and none of it was sensitive or objectionable. “There is nothing anti-national in those videos. Now she says she will never travel to Pakistan again. Please help my daughter get justice,” Harish wrote.
Meanwhile, Jyoti Malhotra appeared via video conferencing for her sixth hearing in court on Monday. The court extended her judicial custody by 14 days, with the next hearing scheduled for August 18.
