PSPCL Clarifies: No consumer will be denied connection, help desks set up to assist with online applications
Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, August 1, 2025 – Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has issued a clarification regarding the process of applying for new electricity connections, emphasizing that no consumer will be denied a connection due to inability to apply online.
To ease the process and ensure accessibility, PSPCL has set up dedicated help desks across divisions, including in Mohali and Zirakpur, where staff assist consumers with online application submission.
These help desks either guide the consumer in filling out the form themselves or complete the application on their behalf — entirely free of cost. The move aims to eliminate middlemen, enhance transparency, and protect applicants from exploitation.
In addition, under the new Supply Code 2024 issued by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC), submission of a test report is now mandatory for all domestic supply (DS) connections, irrespective of load. Previously, this was not required for loads up to 20 kW.
PSPCL has raised this matter with the regulator to seek appropriate relief. Er. Inderpal Singh, Director Distribution, assured that PSPCL remains committed to consumer rights and warned against any form of corruption.
Complaints related to bribery or harassment can be reported via WhatsApp at 96461-75770, or online at https://grms.pspcl.in. Consumers also receive a special SMS link with every online application to report misconduct directly.
