New Delhi, August 5, 2025: The Election Commission has taken strict action against four election officials for gross negligence in the electoral registration process. Two Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and two Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) have been suspended.
According to the Commission, the suspended officials failed to perform their duties responsibly and were found guilty of serious procedural violations. They reportedly shared their login credentials for the voter registration database with unauthorized individuals, a direct violation of data security policies.
The Election Commission termed the breach a serious matter, emphasizing that such actions compromise the transparency and security of the electoral process. The disciplinary action, the Commission stated, is part of its commitment to maintaining the integrity of India’s democratic system.
